Break their will. Earn their loyalty. Rise from founder to Master of the Beasts.
You are the founder of the Beastbound — the first tamer in generations. You stand alone in a glowing rune circle on a mountain plateau, facing something enormous that wants you gone. You don't fight it. You out-focus it.
Every beast shows you two things: its Will, the resistance you have to grind down, and its Rage, which will boil over and throw you across the ring if you push too hard. Between them sits your skill — four magic movements channelled through a runic staff, and the nerve to hold Deep Focus while the world slows to a crawl and a golden ring closes on the beast's heart.
Release on the beat and you land a Perfect: triple effect, and the beast never gets angrier. Release early and it feels the sloppy cast. That single moment of timing is the whole game, and it never stops being tense.
Start with an Emberpup that has more courage than sense. End with the Dread Wyrm. In between: direwolves, crystal stags, stone golems, minotaurs, storm griffins and a phoenix that reignites unless your Calm lands on time — six tiers of beast, each demanding a different rhythm.
Tame them, then train them. Drills raise a beast's Power, Spirit, Obedience and Bond, and teach it magic movements of its own — and every movement a beast learns permanently sharpens you. Sell your trained beasts at the market for real gold, buy wild untamed ones cheap, and flip them. Some listings sit greyed out with a rank you haven't earned yet, which is exactly the point.
A taming can break. The beast bolts, your stake is gone, and you come back sharper. There is no permadeath here — only the growing certainty that you are getting better at reading them.
