You do. You arrive in Mournhollow Vale with a rune-etched blade, no money, and no particular reason to stay — and then the old lamp-lighter tells you what's wrong with the graveyard on the hill.
Something below the burial mounds has cracked open. Three ancient wardstones once held the seal; two have gone dark. Every night the ground gives up its dead, and the forty-odd people still living in the shanty town of Gallow's Rest have stopped going up to the yard to look for the ones who don't come back.
Explore an open, hand-built zone in first person — a poor shanty village of driftwood and sailcloth, a hilltop graveyard with a roofless chapel, a drowned bog full of wisp-lights, a ruined watchtower on the ridge, a ring of standing stones, and the gallows at the crossroads that named the town. Above it all, always out of reach, the black-spired castle you can see from anywhere in the valley.
Three ways to fight, each with real weight: a moonsteel longsword that bites the dead twice as deep, a hunter's bow, and a fire bolt the hedge witch will teach you if you're brave enough to go into the black water for her. Stamina gates your swings. Mana gates your magic. Blocking costs you.
Light all three wardstones. Open the barrow. Kill what's wearing the crown down there.
Seal the breach and the north pass opens — and the winter road climbs toward the Nightspire itself.
