Midnight Revue raises the curtain on a boss-rush shooter styled after 1930s rubber-hose cartoons. The show opens on a velvet-draped stage: crimson curtains frame a glowing marquee lined with bulbs, and a worn film look with grain, vignette and a stray scratch line flickers over the picture.
